BMore Gives More!

In keeping with the spirit of the season Baltimore started the “BMore Gives More” fundraising challenge to take part in #GivingTuesday.

Taken from their website:

“Born out of New York’s 92 Street Y, #GivingTuesday’s mission is to “create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations

This year BMORE GIVES MORE aims to consolidate our efforts and leverage #GivingTuesday to raise $5 million in one day and show the world that Baltimore is THE MOST GENEROUS CITY in America!”

According to the 2012 Census there were over 5 million people living in Maryland and over 600,000 living in Baltimore alone. If everyone in Maryland donated $1 we would meet our goal! I know that’s not realistic but every little bit helps. I’m encouraging friends and family to take a look at the website and find a charity that speaks to your heart.

There are some amazing charities taking part in #GivingTuesday.  All proceeds will be split amongst Baltimore charities of your choosing. The website breaks it down into categories so you can easily locate the organization you wish to support.

If donating money isn’t something you wish to do, you can also donate your time. Visit this website for volunteer opportunities throughout Baltimore.

There are also many ways to get involved via social media. This article talks about the “unselfie“. Today- write the charity you support on a sheet of paper, hold it up in front of your face, and take a photo. Show us who you are supporting today on #GivingTuesday.
